Cos I didnt want to wait for the cab in the valley.. its such a long queue.. and the smart ass in me thought there would be a cab somewhere on the road... heh.. yah there are lotsa cabs.. empty ones... but they didnt stop for me.. wonders why. Maybe I look too much like a robber heh.

Anyway today's the last night in brisbane.. actually second last.. last night would be on 12 dec... :) Had great fun during my stay here. Lotsa fun in fact. Having mixed feelings about going back ...

Nice Cool weather

Its raining now. Skies are dark and gloomy and I'm blogging on my bed, beside this ceiling-to-floor glass door that leads to the balcony. I like the nice cool breeze that's coming through the door. I just lurve rainy days like this. Especially when you've got nothing on your hands, just chillin out at home. :D Sweet.

This week's my last week in bris vegas before heading towards sydney to meet ben. Am still deciding whether I should go to Movie World for the Shrek 4D show. Yea I'll see how. Ray went to canberra and Hannah went to Melbourne to meet her mum. So the house's empty nowadays with only Amelia and me left. Not too bad actually 'cos I dont have to worry about disturbing ray's sleep if i stay up too late heh. (we both share a room)

So what have I been doing lately? Haven got much to do during the past few days.. but I've tried something ... wrong... heh something that's considered illegal back in Singapore. Well its all about experiencing anyway... and I guess this is about the only time that I can try it so what the heck right? Not going to say what it is here... but will post a locked (for friends only) entry about that in another blog of mine. (I've just started another blog recently... and have been double posting for some time)

yups... shall just chill and enjoy this nice cool weather... I know we get alot of this weather back in Singapore but we don't really get it here in aus :p Nice weather to be sleepin eh... haha but I just had a cip of coffee.. Not sure if I can fall asleep :) well seeya guys in less than a month time! Call me when I'm back! :D same mobile number.

I think i'm going to hell

Today's a day full of sick sightings. First we went to watch Saw II. Didn't intend to watch that at all as I wanted to watch exorcism of emily rose. But emily rose wasn't showing anymore at southbank - the cheapest movie you can find in brisbane heh (Cheaper than sg!) So in the end we ended up with Saw II without knowing what that show is about.

First scene's already sick... Super sick... It shows this guy who's being kept in captive, with a device that's gonna snap his head off if he cant find a key that unlocks it within a certain time. And guess what? The key is right behind his eye balls! Apparently this sick psycho operated on his eye and kept the key inside his eyeball. So he's given a choice now... to dig out his own eyeballs and prevent that head snapper device from taking his life, or to wait till the time's up and die by letting that device snap right into his face...... Arghhhhh ... its just sick, looking at him struggling whether to dig out his eyeballs... KAOS!

And the whole show is about how this particular psycho goes around playing games with others. Ok so what has that got to do with me going to hell? Heh the first part is only a side track... Well this evening, ray found a huge ass spider in our house! We got hold of everyone to take a look at that spider lol. Everyone means my housemates lah... hahah not our neighbours. So we got so excited we caught that spider and kept it inside a plastic container. Then weird ideas start to come. Fry it, keep it as a pet, drown it etc. Heh In the end, we decided to pour in some beer and rolled it around to see if it gets drunk! And indeed the spider sorta curled itself up. And then.. the sick idea... microwave it! Arghhh ... I know its sick! But at that moment we were just too excited... so we put it inside the microwave oven for just 5 secs. And ... it sorta exploded! One of the legs came off! Arghhhh What the fuck did we do??

Its sickening i know.. and I feel bad as well.. but only after that do i actually feel bad. Is there some kind of a sick personality in everyone of us?? Hmmmm ... I think I'm going to hell.... Tsk

Anyway, theres a huge party tonight ... Kandy. But I'm not going 'cos I'm really broke heh. After all the spending, movies, eating out I'm broke. Actually not very broke but just not sure how much I'll be spending for the tour, so am trying to save as much as possible. Not to mention that I would need to save up some amount for the whatever spendings I need back in Singapore. Haiz Haiz.. Money money... No money....

Well I went to cut my hair today. Was struggling whether to let this new salon called Jack Hanna in Myer to do it. Wanted to get a haircut and a highlight but that costs 160AUD after discount. WTF. Then I went back to another salon called Plush, the previous one which I went but they said they can only do it tomorrow. So being the lazy me (I didn't want to go back again tomorrow) ... I went around looking for another place. Found one that costs only 20 AUD to get a haircut. Its sorta a barber place. :) Cool eh... heh Not very nice but still acceptable ... considered its only 20 bucks.

Oh! I must say that the city's getting pretty crowded nowadays. There were so much people in the city this afternoon! surprise surprise heh.

Terror threats in Brisbane... Can Singapore cope?

Brisbane's transport halted for two hours yesterday due to terrorist threats suspected to be made by a teen in his twenties. Apparently, someone made 3 phone calls claiming that there will be a planted bomb on one of the buses. So, the whole of brisbane's public transport came to a halt in the afternoon and once during the peak period between 4pm to 5pm.

One of my friend was on the bus when it happened, on his way to school for his last paper haha. According to him, the buses have some kind of communication device that's being linked to a control centre. And that is how they managed to get all buses to stop at the nearest bus stop and to evacuate 100m away from the bus stop. Trains and ferry services were stopped as well.

Its amazing what prank calls can lead to huh. :) And the person who made that prank call is such an insensitive bas****, making use of the already tense situation in australia to fulfil some kind of sick satisfaction. In rhetoric terms, its called kairos... (the timeliness of an argument to convince your audience or simply timely) heh i've learnt something here in aus! mai siao siao (meaning dun play play or dont play a fool - for the sake of people who doesnt understand singlish which i think the only person would be pam lol right pam? if you r reading this heh)

Anyway, I was thinking what if this happens in Singapore? Would we be able to evacuate everyone on the buses and trains? Trains maybe but buses? Do we have such a communication network? I dont think so right? Correct me if I'm wrong. Shouldn't we do something about this?

Anyway, I went to watch elizabeth town today. :) I'm so bored that I went to watch that movie lol. haiz... well I cant be playing everyday right? LOL

Threat freezes city
Renee Viellaris and Rosemary Odgers
15nov05

AN unprecedented shutdown of southeast Queensland's public transport network was yesterday sparked by threats that a small package would explode on a bus or train.

Queensland Rail and Brisbane City Council buses ground to a halt at midday and again during peak hour yesterday afternoon after emergency services received three separate threats.

Police set up a major incident room and were last night hunting for those responsible but had not declared it to be a hoax.

Forensic officers, specialising in fingerprint analysis, swooped on public phone boxes at Carina and Enoggera which were believed to have been used to make the threatening calls.

A special hotline set up yesterday received numerous tipoffs about the threats, which included concerns about suspicious parcels and people.

Late yesterday, the bomb squad evacuated some residents and cordoned off Pinelands St at Sunnybank Hills for about two hours after a bus driver alerted police to a suspicious package just before 5pm.

Thousands of passengers on more than 700 buses and trains were evacuated, throwing peak-hour travelling into chaos as trains and buses came to a standstill between 4.45pm and 5.15pm.

Train and bus stations in Brisbane's central business district were also evacuated but occupants of surrounding buildings, including the Myer Centre, remained inside. It is understood that government security experts advised that an explosion from a smaller package or backpack would have been contained to the bus or train carriage, eliminating the need to evacuate nearby buildings.

Premier Peter Beattie defended the disruption to commuters, saying authorities had no choice but to act on the threats.

"There's no perfect science here. We responded to the information we were given," he said.

He warned hoaxers they faced up to seven years in jail if caught and said "we would throw the book at them".

Just after 11am police received the first threat that eight bombs – four on Queensland Rail trains and four on council buses – would detonate at midday.

Another call warned emergency services of an explosion on buses and trains at 5pm. Police were concerned about the caller's persistence, prompting them to take the threats seriously in the wake of last week's terror raids in Sydney and Melbourne.

A meeting of State Cabinet was interrupted to inform ministers of the threats.

Mr Beattie then met with Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson and senior ministers, who decided to shut down the transport network. Major hospitals and the Queensland Ambulance Service were placed on heightened alert.

Thousands of workers were advised to leave the city earlier or take public transport well after 5.15pm to prevent massive public transport backlogs and taxi companies were asked to help move people out of the city.

However, communication problems hampered the early response, with some bus drivers unaware of the possible danger.

Mr Atkinson said police inquiries were focusing on the source of the phone calls. "It is true that we regularly receive anonymous phone calls that allege bomb threats but in the general climate that exists . . . we're treating this more seriously," he said.

Some commuters, including Brendan Sanewski, 42, a public servant, from Redcliffe, were cynical about Mr Atkinson, Mr Beattie and Police Minister Judy Spence visiting Central Station during the stoppage.

"I fail to see how 30 minutes of blocking the trains could stop a bomb," Mr Sanewski said.

"This is just an inconvenience and if there was a terror attack there would be no warning."

Metal worker Andrew Barker was on his way home to Durack when his train abruptly pulled up at Milton Station and everyone was forced to leave.

"It's (terrorism) not something that we think about much here in Brisbane, but when something like this happens it does make you feel unsafe," Mr Barker said.

Surfing!

We went to coolangatta for surfing a day after my last exam. :) Was really fun! ahah great fun. And while surfing, we saw two dolphins that really close to us! Then they started swimming towards me ... woah.! haha amazing and its within a few cm away from me! Its truly amazing!

had great fun! And before we left, we saw a plane flying around, with a banner that says "Will you marry me, my darling claire" Cool right. Sweet. nice way to propose. ;) At least better than the orchard's tv screen in front of the heavy traffice and exhaust smoke lol

And coolangatta, the place that we went to, is at the border of new south wales and queensland. NSW has daylight savings activated just a few weeks ago so they are 1 hr ahead of QLD. Heh and interestingly, there is this huge structure that separates NSW and QLD (see pics below). haha so what should the time be if we are standing in the middle of that structure?? heh

HAd a great day yesterday but we missed the glow worms. Just realised from pam that the glow worms are in coolangatta as well. :(

Click here for the pictures :)

Food Food Food

Been having some really authentic singapore food recently :) Cooked by me! and of cos my housemates lah heh. Seriously, I think I have sort of learnt how to cook during this 6 month period. I am glad my housemates and I are taking turns to cook everyday so we don't end up cooking maggie mee and junk food for every meal. :) Really grateful to be living together with these people.

So what have we been eating for the past few months? :) Apart from the normal dishes like beans, veggies, beef, chicken, pork, soups, fish, pasta... we have some really interesting stuffs brewing! Things like nasi lemak! chicken rice! claypot! mee giah complete with wanton! broccoli cheese rice! western meal with mashed potato complete with sauce! haha satay with sauce! vietnamnese spring roll! authentic kimchi made by a korean! (haha i luv this one.. thanks to ray's mum) slurps slurps... LOL oh and I tried baking a cake! lol my first cake. Look out for the pic below :) Didn't really turn out well but hey its still good despite the look of it lol. Trust me! As the chinese saying goes "人不可貌相,海水不可斗量,蛋糕不可看外表" LOL

Yup, so I am really glad to be living with these people. Imagine cooking everyday for yourself, its just gonna be a chore. At least we take turns here and we are doing pretty well even without a fixed schedule of who's gonna cook on which day. Yeah basically we just cook as and when we want to, no fixed schedule but everyone's quite alright, no free loaders :) including me... haha

Great peeps. Alright time to do my conclusion of that darn essay which has been dragging my feet and poking my arse... in other words... irritating shit. LOL Byes

Click here for the cake pics!

Kids Rules!

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love." Rebecca- age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth." Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other." Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs." Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired." Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK." Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired ofkissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy arelike that. They look gross when they kiss" Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate," Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday." Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well." Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore." Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece! of chicken." Elaine-age 5

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he ishandsomer than Robert Redford." Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left himalone all day." Mary Ann - age 4"

I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her oldclothes and has to go out and buy new ones." Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and littlestars come out of you." (what an image)Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toiliet and she doesn't thinkit's gross." Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if youmean it, you should say it a lot. People forget." Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,"Nothing.....I just helped him cry"

Interesting right? :)
